Chris Marley > Timber Headings
Timber Headings
Timber headings are short length hand excavated tunnels, generally up to around 10 metres in length, through soft ground or soil. The soft ground above is supported using timber frames (Timber Headings) constructed within the tunnel. Timber headings are used primarily where open cut methods are not an option due to the presence of services or because of access difficulties, for example: tunnels under electric cables, other services or under a road. Timber headed tunnels are used for installing pipes and other services. We can provide a complete feasibility and design package. |
